Golf has been my passion since my Grandad passed me my first club when I was 4 years old. Fast forward 20 years and my dream of becoming a Professional Golfer came true. After a number of years playing on the circuits, and carrying an injury, it was time to settle down and I naturally leaned towards Golf Retail. From my roots at Northenden GC to managing some of the biggest Golf Retailers, I have learned that every customer's needs are different and that their journey needs to be tailored that way. Having worked in the industry for over 30 years it is safe to say that golf is in my blood. Opening a golf shop on England's Golf Coast has always been something both the community and its golfing members needed. As an independent shop, we don't have the large overheads like the big stores, or even online, meaning we can give back these savings to our customers. That combined with our knowledge and love for the game means every customer gets a 5 star experience.
I always thought Golf was boring. My Dad used to have it on TV when the big competitions were on, in those days I couldn't tell you anything but when I met my Husband, his love for the game became mine too and bit by bit I was hooked — whether we were out playing in the blistering cold or sat at home cheering on the greats, I knew it was the game for me. Glyn and I opened our Golf Shop on Lord Street in Southport in December 2025. I worked in Education for 20 years so my expertise in building customer relations means that my focus is on ensuring every customer enjoys their experience shopping with us. Forming connections means customers come back next time and that's important to us. Some days are harder than others but bringing an independent Golf Shop to one of the biggest golfing areas of the Northwest was a no brainer, there has been a gap there for so long but now we're here to fill it and we're excited about the future!
Every morning when I come into work, it excites me to know that I will make new connections with locals and work alongside some of the hottest brands in golf, at the forefront of Golf in the Northwest. Golf to me, is community, resilience and challenge. Community because when you become part of a group or club it's almost like creating your own small community where you support each other to improve and share the load when you struggle. Resilience because even though you may shank it into the trees, you find your ball, you place it in the rough and you crack on! Challenge because I challenge myself every day. I'm only 17 and fresh out of school but it's important to me to excel in whatever I do so I constantly push myself to learn the new tech, understand about profit margins and embed myself into the 'Family Business' to help secure the future of our brand. We're not tied into a big corporation, we can provide the best deals for the customers and we won't be beaten on price!
